The meeting is at the Student Center at Wayne State University, located at 5221 Gullen Mall Detroit, MI 48202.
Meetings typically start at 6:30 PM on Mondays.
The Student Center is big enough that people would be best off having a phone number to call when they get there, but since I'm not willing to have my phone number out there publicly, they can email me to ask for it. We sometimes move the meeting around if we need to, and that means it would be advisable for anybody who wants to come to contact me or Ripple first.

Hello everybody. I'm wondering how many OLGA folks are in the Detroit area...I think I could use some face to face time, and wondering if there are enough people in the area to try starting a regular or even semi-regular meeting...

There are at least two of us in Shelby Township
We are currently meeting Thursday nights at 8:30 in the first floor of the student center, Wayne State University. PM myself or LearningSerenity for directions or any questions. Neither of us are likely to check every day, but I will definitely make an effort to answer anything at least a couple times a week, and will note here if the meetings change.

I am wondering if there are supportive meetings for spouses of addicted gamers? I am going through treatment for breast cancer and my husband walked out on the family. I am holding down two full time jobs, and taking care of all the mess he left behind. I had to confront it as it destroyed our marriage over the last 8 years. Any info or support is appreciated.
Hello, Proflady. First, big hugs...that sounds like an incredibly difficult situation you're in now, and I hope that you're able to find a good path to take forward from here.
Second, although both Ripple and I are gamers (and probably unable to be of much help to you), Jeepers (reply #1) is the father of a gamer. It's not the same thing, I know, but he's probably in a better place to be able to relate to what you're going through than either myself or Ripple. You could try clicking the "email" link below his image in his reply and see what he says.
Lastly, you could try looking into local Al-anon or Nar-anon meetings. I know that they have lots of experience with dealing with addicted spouses, and I've heard some of the anons here talk about finding a lot of help in meetings like that. Hugs...

I am sorry that you have to deal with your health issues in such difficult circumstances. This is the time when you need the support, understanding and love the most. Hope you can find the path out of this darkness into the light.
We parents have typed chat meeting every Thursday nights at 9pm EST. You are most welcome to join us if you want to vent out or share. My heart goes out to you.

Welcome to OLGA, fallingskies. Perhaps you'd be willing to post a bit of your story in the "I need help for gamers" forum? If you want to quit gaming you are more than welcome here, but what you said here doesn't give any of us much to go on... :)
