I just recently quit the game Titanfall. I have decided to be done with all First Person Shooter games and the like for good. I am 30 years old and have spent the last 10 just sitting around and playing them. I had a passion once, I wanted to learn and get into music. I made some techno here and there but never actually learned how to play an instrument and never really devoted my time to trying to develop any skill thanks to being stuck in front of these games. I know its nott he actual game's fault, it is mine. They are adrenaline zapping and mindless, sure I might develop some sharp reflexes and be able to spot things more clearly but in the real world this doesn't work out so well. I am now almost 2 weeks "clean" and am suffering some major "withdraw" symptoms. I have been diagnosed with ADHD and am on Adderall now to help me concentrate, gaming seems to have destoyed any ability I had to concentrate. I know some games are great for strategies and memorization, but I don't think this is the case with the games I played. Limited in depth, short in gameplay, repetive and never really does anything different. The point here is that about 7 years ago, I gave up on a passion i had to want to get into Electronic music, become an artist and entertain people. I am now trying to respark that dream but am finding it difficult to even open a theory book and read it. Most days i feel empty and I just want to go back and play. I've yelled at people, I've neglected important thing like a job, paying the bills etc. I can't concentrate even on my meds. I just need some advice, opinions, or at least know someone shares (shared) this misery with me, thanks!
