Peaches,

The hardest part is admitting that you have a problem and that you're powerless. You're doing great!

Next, get rid of the game! Stick with the 12 Step Program. Find accountability partners (i.e. boyfriend, local woman's group, and even your local church). My Men's Group at church helped keep me on track.

Praying for your recovery and strength!

Start with giving away your

Start with giving away your account/password to someone else.

- abondon your cities. Misuse it. This way you start less having fun playing the game. Its a harsh way, but at least you wont start playing anymore.... try it and you will see that it works

I reommend attending an NA

I reommend attending an NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meeting... I currently attend them a few times a week and they help me a lot. Gaming can effect the body and mind in many of the same ways a drug can. Addiction is addiction. It's surprising how much I can relate to their messages. I tried AA but that really didn't work for me but still do when I have an urge to game and their isn't an NA meeting around.

Peaches, Welcome to OLGA! As

Peaches,

Welcome to OLGA! As was said above, you have admitted that you are addicted, that it has made your life unmanagable, and that you are powerless over it. That is, indeed, a great start on Step1. All of the other suggestions above are great as well.

Let me add one more: Come back here. There are hundreds of people here who are similar to you, who share your experience, even with the specific game you are playing. You can read their stories and learn about recovery. Also, respond to people's posts and share your own story. That will definitely help you.

Let me say that your goal should be to quit. Once you are addicted you will find that trying to just play "a little bit" is absolute torture, and it will be easier to quit altogether. It won't be easy the first days and even weeks because you have been playing so much, but in the long run it will be less torture. And your life will get better.

Quit now if you can. Delete your account and don't log in. Don't email anyone you had contact with in the game. Don't read anything about it. And when you get the urge to play, just come here. Come here a lot. You won't have to do it forever--people who quit find that they need to be here less as their recovery progresses. But you are in the thick of it now. and should do whatever you need to to quit.

We have chat meetings at 9 p.m. Eastern U.S. time every evening. There are SKYPE meetings also--go to the Meetings tab to see the calendar. Coming to meetings is very helpful and enlightening, whether you have been able to quit just yet or not.

I wish you the very best. If you keep coming here, we will support you, so come back as much as you like!

I am a recovering computer game and gambling addict. My recovery birthday: On May 6, 2012 I quit games and began working a program of recovery through OLGA No computer games or slot games for me since December 12, 2012. No solitaire games with real cards since June 2013.
