A sponsorship focused blog

Hey guys, not sure whether this should go under the recommended material or the sponsorship section, but this blog written by an AA member, talks alot about sponsorship and the ins and outs of his program and how he does it all. He's got 20 years+ of recovery, and what he says speaks to me at least.

I found what he wrote about 10th step inventories especially useful, since getting to sleep has always been an issue for me, and I've heard nightly 10th step inventories are a great way to relaz the mind and allay those racing thoughts and guilts and remorses etc. that we all face.

So here it is: http://mrsponsorpants.typepad.com/mr_sponsorpants/

Sorry if this doesn't belong here :x

Good stuff, Chris. Thanks

Good stuff, Chris. Thanks for this link.

Acceptance. When I am disturbed, it is because a person, place, thing, or situation is unacceptable to me. I find no serenity until I accept my life as being exactly the way it is meant to be. Nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.  Acknowledge the problem, but live the solution!

Thanks for this, Chris. I

Thanks for this, Chris.

I sense a general principle here. As a teacher, I've known for a long time that people learn not by focusing on what they don't know, but by using what they do know to solve a problem.

So we don't get better by beating ourselves up for what we are not doing, but rather by getting better at what we are already doing well.

And we enjoy our friends and family more when we appreciate what they bring to our relationships with them, and on what we can bring to them, rather than focusing on what has not happened in the past.

And we get more good things in life by focusing on being grateful for what we have, not complaining about what we lack.

And we get rid of resentments not by focusing on the bad that people have done, but by focusing on the good we can do.

Hmmmmm.....

I am a recovering computer game and gambling addict. My recovery birthday: On May 6, 2012 I quit games and began working a program of recovery through OLGA No computer games or slot games for me since December 12, 2012. No solitaire games with real cards since June 2013.

GOD: You certainly come up with a constant stream of new and inventive ways to make yourself feel bad about yourself, Mr. SponsorPants, that's for sure. How on earth could you do gratitude 'wrong'?

I got found out!

Okay, I have a new internet

Okay, I have a new internet crush on this guy. Not necessarily my favorites or by any means the only quotables I've found so far, just a few of the handiest -

Quote:

"They're probably working up their courage to ask - waiting till just before we're done." As I mentally chewed that grouchy thought I imagine my face looked like a piece of crumpled paper.

Certainly at that moment my spirit resembled one.

Quote:

One more time, in all the ways that matter, in all the ways that are so **** easy to forget, I experience the transcendent Truth: Give love.

Give love and it sets you free.

Give love and in that freedom great things occur.

Give love with as much willingness as you can summon - give love not as coin, in an effort to bargain with the Universe, rather, give love because it opens you up -- so all those great things around us which are waiting to occur - like flowers poised on the brink of bloom - can manifest.

Free us.

Free us from resentment,

from alcoholism,

from whatever darkness or addiction which binds us and keeps us fettered and small.

And regarding coping with the holidays -

Quote:

10. Remember, it is possible to look like you're listening intently to someone while you are actually saying The Serenity Prayer over and over in your head.

Acceptance. When I am disturbed, it is because a person, place, thing, or situation is unacceptable to me. I find no serenity until I accept my life as being exactly the way it is meant to be. Nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.  Acknowledge the problem, but live the solution!
