Hi Spy and welcome to Olga.

Hi Spy and welcome to Olga. I know how you feel. I was in the same place at one time. I didn't think I could ever quit gaming. But one day I did, and the next day I found this website which has helped me stay quit. What I did was was come here to Olga when I felt like gaming and I'd read posts, respond to other's posts, post about my own journey, and attend meetings. It all helps. It's hard to quit, but you can do it just as many of us have. Come to the meetings if you can. We have them every day at 3 pm and 9 pm EST in the chat room. It really helps. Best of luck to you.

Hi Spy, It's interesting

Hi Spy,

It's interesting with almost every story I read here if not in its entirety at least partially I relate to my own experiences with gaming addiction as I did when I read yours. To me that is what makes this site and particularly the meetings here so helpful we all know exactly what its like to be addicted to gaming and together we can help each other recover.

I hope you check out the meetings!

Hey Spy, This was the first

Hey Spy,

This was the first thing I read before I joined today. I thought there might be some kind of identity theft here because you just described my life. It's good to know I'm in the right place.

Thanks for posting.

Hi Spy WhenI read your story

Hi Spy

WhenI read your story it made me think that perhaps one of the reasons it is so hard to quit the internet in general is that it gives you something to blame. I don't mean you should have to blame anything-especially never blame yourself. What I mean is perhaps you are using the internet as an excuse for your problems. If you have always been shy since childhood perhaps you have social anxiety-maybe it is your nature or maybe something happened when you were young that stuck and made you nervous to try to make friends. Finding a Cognitive behavorial therapist can perhaps help you learn real techniques for how to overcome social anxiety. Sometimes a low dose of an anti anxiety medication can help too!! I hope your doing well-

Hi, Spy (and Pirate, too).

Hi, Spy (and Pirate, too). Welcome!

There are so many similarities in our stories. It's the same problem that has us by the throat and is causing us such harm. Hearing from others and sharing your own story is extremely helpful, and that's why so many people will suggest that you might want to come to meetings. There are plenty of meetings at various times. Here's the full list:

I hope to see you around!

I am a recovering computer game and gambling addict. My recovery birthday: On May 6, 2012 I quit games and began working a program of recovery through OLGA No computer games or slot games for me since December 12, 2012. No solitaire games with real cards since June 2013.
