Why am I so afraid?

My life and wow gaming has changed a great deal since July 2008. I was 100% into wow and reading gaming strategies, etc. Now in Dec. 2008, my life is 98% non-gaming. I spend more time in OLGA and reading www.wowdetox.com and a 2% gaming. So this is good.

However, the 2% spent in wow is STILL wasted time. I can honestly say that I really dislike, no despise, the game now. Maybe my rose-colored wow goggles are gone nowaEU|.I am not sure. But I canaEU(tm)t help but see every sneaky technique Blizzard uses to make people spend more time gaming. It nauseates meaEU|.and I refuse to be a part of that. My wow friends, albeit really nice people, are 100% engrained in the game. It seems as if there is a chasm growing between us. The few times I log in a week are non-satisfying for me.

They all hit 80 and are concerned with gear and raiding. They are all robotic hamsters on the never-ending wow wheel. As for me, I have no intention to waste time to level to 80. All the things I use to like about the game (I wonaEU(tm)t give game details here), have changed and not for the better. Plus 3.0 screwed a lot of things and people over. The expansion changed thingsaEU|not for the better. And another patch is on its way to further change things, not for the better. ItaEU(tm)s weird playing a game when the manufacturer can aEUoechange the rulesaEU in the middle of game play. All your time previously played, is for nothing when the NEW rules (or nerf) is implemented.

A few of my friends and I decided to make 2009 a year of change. I have new goals and a plan of action for myself. My friends are starting in Jan. 2009. However, I would like to start on Dec. 20th, my first day of a long holiday vacation. This will give me 16 days to lay the groundwork for new habits of fitness and health.
One of my goals in 2009, is to walk away from wow the last 2%. Wow has been a socialization crutch for me and even that aEUoepullaEU in fading away for me as well. Right now I can honestly say I am not playing excessively; however, any time spent playing, no matter how miniscule, is wasted time that I can never get back. So why am I so afraid to leave wow once and for all?

Eleven months from now, I will be having a BIG birthday, a milestone in my lifeaEU(tm)s journey. I want to create the life I envision for myself. The only thing standing in my wayaEU|aEU|is ME.

The question is....will you be able/courageous/adult enough to sacrifice that which merely pleases you...for that which will truly fulfill you? That is the question of personal growth.

I am going to join you on Dec 20th in a good healthy excercise program, at least thirty minures a day in active excercise. I also hate it when right in the middle of doing something very productive and time-consuming, "they" change the rules on you.

You have already made a lot

You have already made a lot of progress and I believe the final step will follow soon. You will have the life you desire. You are committed to it. You will learn to "walk" through life without your WoW crutch. :)
