Hello and I need help

I have played games for most of my days growing up and when on my own in the Marines I basically spent any time I wasn't working was spent playing games. My time was split between WoW and Call of Duty. It wasn't interfering with anything then but with playing so much I had no other activities I was interested in and this has been true up to now. I have been out of the Marines for 5 years now and I have stopped playing as much as I used to but now the problem is that I play during my shift at work and put in about 8 hours during a 12 hour shift of playing on some days and it has caused my performance to be a problem and can cause me to lose my job. I have trouble staying away from playing games or thinking about them at work and need help with getting away from this so that it stops affecting my work.  I have stopped playing for about three months on my own but ended up starting again and it is worse now than it was before. I'm worried that if I keep playing or even start again that it can cause me to lose my job.  Any and all advice is welcome for help.

That how it was for me too!  My hope was that if I stopped for a while, I would break the habit of so much gaming and be able to play more responsibly after a while.  But when I gamed again, it was soon enough as bad as ever.  Eventually, it got even worse.

It is possible to escape the vicious downward spiral.  Use that link that Polga noted above and listen in on a few meetings.  We share the solutions we've found and we support and encourage each other.
