I was hurt badly by Second Life

I was hurt badly by second life. I had never tried a virtual world when I started there. I made friends and was able to escape my pain in real life. I was on it for over a year and it became a problem after I was harassed and stalked. When I contacted Second Life they did not care and I had to leave. I am currently still dealing with the pain of having lost sl, a place that meant alot for me because it helped me get to express my true self. I had no persona in sl, I was myself. I am actually heartbroken over loosing sl, depressed.

Hi Callan

Hi Callan

Many people come here because they need to find a way to take back their real life from the time spent gaming. They find they become addicted to gaming, then their life starts to fall apart and it becomes hard to quit. If that applies to you then this website and the members may be able to support you in your recovery.

OLGA Helps

Hi Callan,

I think the first step you can do now is decide whether you need to quit gaming and second life completely. Many people on OLGA have had similar problems and their previous posts can help you decide. I joined OLGA a month ago, and it has already helped me quit games for longer than I ever thought possible on my own. This community's support is incredible. I have found refuge from games in reading people's struggles and success stories, and by writing down my own thoughts. You can use this site in your own way. I hope the OLGA community helps you as well. Also, I found this topic especially helpful: http://www.olganon.org/forum/ongoing-recovery-and-progress-gamers/daily-count-and-accountability?page=11#comment-263435

Best,

NewDay

Polga- Ive had some time to

Polga- Ive had some time to think on this and I do not consider myself addicted to gaming. I have many limitations in real life and it has helped me cope. I however will be completely respectful of those who feel that is there struggle. I do see much harm that online games are able to do to people, but in my opinion it has to do with poor respect of those on online sites and sites that would rather gain money and further dysfunction then to create respectful places for people to express themselves. These are just my thoughts on it- and I have played many online games. I feel that based off my experiences I still have been harmed by gaming, for the reason I talk of above, and I can relate to many here.

BrandNewDay- Thank you BrandNewDay, I have been helped by reading the stories of others and there struggles and I will continue to read them.
