New here, one week off games and looking for support.

Finally decided it was time to get my life in check after years of playing LoL for hours and hours every day. It recently got out of hand and started majorly affecting my education, social groups, etc.

Currently one week off of videogames and looking for guidance in contuining this journey without failure. As is likely normal, I get urges from time to time during the day to play. How can I negate them? How can I make this whole process easier?

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Congrats on a week off games!  Great start

It is much easier to stay off games with the support, understanding, encouragement, and guidance of others who are doing the same.  There are daily voice meetings at 1:30pm and 10pm EDT.  There's now a WhatsApp group for us to stay in touch with each other and there are forums and a subreddit.

There's a link at the top for the schedule.  Disregard the 3pm and 9pm times on that page, no meetings are happening then.

One of the best things to do with an urge is tell someone else about it.  I've seen many people tell about it on the whatsapp group and ask for someone to talk with.  Next best is to attend a meeting soon.  Also, it's helpful to clearly remember why you stopped.  It's hard to stay stopped because we tend to remember the positives and forget the pile of painful negatives.
