My son has seen therapist but no one gets it.....depression anxiety agoraphobia but they still don't get it. it is addiction.. Hospital nothing so far has helped. I need someone that specifies in this gaming addiction. So if anyone knows anyone I live in ny state dutchess county. I have been trying to find someone that may take my insurance bcbs,
it seems very hopeless. he is in therapy but that is not helping because they don't get it. Things have gotten very bad, very violent if he is interrupted.

Oh, I wish I could help you, but i don't know of anyone who deals with this specifically in New York. Have you tried calling anyone who advertises that they treat addictions and ask them if they treat gaming or computer addictions? That's about all I can recommend. So sorry things are getting worse.

I wonder if it would help if you made an appointment with the therapist and gave them some info. There are a number of authors and websites (Gerald Block, MD comes to mind), people respect in the the psych field, and if you could get some of that info to the therapist it might alert them. Since this info is all so new, none of us are trained and most of us are unaware of this addiction. Therapists understand gambling addiction, maybe you could explain it to him/her that way.
