Did STAR TREK's Writers Foresee Second Life and WoW?

In an earlier post, I mentioned that anyone who considers playing SL should watch an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation called "The Game," and someone added that the episode "Hollow Pursuits" would also be appropriate.

In the universe described by the shows and the movies, only one death penalty remains, the violation of General Order 7:

"No vessel, under any condition, emergency or otherwise, is to visit Talos IV.

Why? The inhabitants of that planet have developed the power of illusion so perfectly that they can exercise total control over others, and the quarantine is to prevent others from learning and developing this power.

Think of Talos IV as SL on steroids.
