I just joined this group and will attempt to be in the meeting next Tues. My partner and I are on the verge of splitting up, and I am wondering if any of you have come through the other side of this with partners who have healed? She is currently playing Aion 4-12 hours per day, which is having a significant negative impact on her ability to be a good partner, or a good mother to our almost 6 yr old. She wants to move out and leave us, and I am trying to figure out how to proceed forward in a healthy way for all involved, and keep my family together. Right now, I just need to know there is hope for this to be possible.
I am sorry that you have this to deal with.Welcome to Olg-anon
From the stories we have on here, there can be healing but it can take years. Every story is different. There is a lot of pain that many spouses had endured for years or decided eventually that enough is enough. If it's not actually addiction/compulsion healing could be quicker. You don't say how long this has gone on.
The best advice I can give you is to spend time reading other peoples stories on this forum and those of the addicts to see what you might be up against. That's what i did to help the information become part of me so I could make the best plan.
If she is addicted then her brain has rewired and she will have a different personality now and lack empathy meaning that she cannot respond to logical reasoning and duty. Quitting would give a chance for recovery but wthdrawals make this hard and many addicts are denial so do not want to stop. You can't force her to stop. ALl you can give her our your boundaries, which she may not respect.
To keep things as real as possible for your family you need to take care of things and detach from her gaming choices. We learn we cannot control someone elses addiction. Addicts in denial will only change once they feel the harsh consequences of there actions.
Keep coming back.

I don't think the Tuesday spouses meeting is happening at the moment. We are looking for a spouse member to volunteer to take over.

I would be willing to chair a spouse meeting weekly, but Tuesday is not my preferred day. 9pm EST is 6pm for me and I have a committment Tuesdays at 7pm.
Monday or Friday would be ideal, but i can also do Saturday or Wednesday.
