So I'm going through my personal computer deleting games and game engines. This thread is here mostly to keep me on task while cutting away a good portion of my daily activities. I'm posting this at the start and will reply to it as I kill games.
Facebook 103 games 5 constantly played. Deactivated account used only for gaming.
Steam: 35 games 2 played often
Hulu: 6 shows watched while gaming
more than 50% of my timewasters gone
Big Fish Games: 15 games play once or when bored
8 Civ games
12 emulators hundreds of roms
12 from EA
6 from Microsoft
8 from Bungie
12 from GOG
3 telnet engines 8 games
MMO with 2K+ in game value
I'm done with the stuff in the cabinet. I'll post here again when I pour more down the drain. I know there around somewhere, just have to find them.
Shouldn't be hard. I'll be at loose ends soon.
37 assorted installers
40 folders
12 small footprint games
3 from work computer
I think that might be all. This was harder than pouring the alcohol out.
Hi again,
Congrats on taking the first step on cleaning out your games! It takes courage to do that. You are not alone and I want you to know that. As I have mentioned in the PM, meeting was the first thing I did when I quit and I rarely missed my Olga meeting in the first 30 days. I also take the time to explore other hobbies to keep me occupy with my free time. Here are the lists of my hobbies:

In addition, I have created a schedule of my daily-to-do tasks to guide me throughout my day; otherwise, the boredom kicked in and I was terrified. Boredom and loneliness were the worst triggers for my relapse. I try to avoid HALT(Hungry, Angry, Lonely, and Tired). This did help me focus on having a productive day because all I could think was gaming from the time I woke up till the time I went to bed. Every day, it was a forced mode for me but it does gets easier each day.
After 1-2 weeks with Olga, I had decided to start working my 12-step program. I figured if I was going to be successful at this, I needed to give it 110% effort just like I was gaming.
Here is my personal blog, and I hope you will find it helpful.

welcome to olga and grats on your achieveing the first step :). Hope to see you at the meetings.
You have accomplished something big here. It takes bravery to cut those things out of your life. Please make sure to be kind to yourself in the coming days.
Welcome to OLGA. Keep coming back.
Good job Daemon! Clearing out our old things gives way to instill new things into our lifes. That is a critical step in recovery. When I stopped, I went around my house like a mad man clearing out all my gaming things. My mom was pretty surprised when she saw me throwing away games and gaming related items like magazines, but I kept doing it because I knew it was what I had to do. Hope to see you at a meeting.
