Gaming and depression (Relapse)

I have not posted here in a very long time. My depressive episodes have gotten progressively worse over the last year and I have recently reverted to mmorpgs to try to cope. It may help get me through suicidal urges in the short run, but, I know that it will lead to progressive deterioration to the rest of my life. The suicidal urges continue, but, I am trying to cope in other ways. I tend to get through the worst of these episodes in 2 weeks or so. At a total loss for what to do right now to get through this one without gaming to hide.

I will probably get in to my

I will probably get in to my psychiatrist. I have a somewhat stable regimen for my bipolar they have labeled with me. I tolerate a certain number of symptoms for less drug side effects.

I had an injury at work in the end of May being assaulted by a patient. It has been a long road. I am 4 weeks post op from a shoulder (rotator cuff) surgery to repair my injury. I have not coped well with the process of recovering from my physical injury. I have had more free time than I can deal with. I have never done well coping with free time. Since my shoulder has felt way better, it became physically possible for me to game.

Mentally and emotionally I know that it isn't an option, even if I am able to physically do it. I am just glad to be posting here and taking my first step of reaching out for help again.

Sounds like a good idea

Sounds like a good idea jesse.

If you want a challenge for idle time, and might find it beneficial to help others , perhaps you could make a review post or blog with your own commentary linking to older posts that you (and also others who lurk on this forum for vicarious help) would find helpful relating to gaming addiction and bipolar / depression.I think that would be really useful. Just a suggestion if you feel up to it.
