This is truly one of the

This is truly one of the most tragic stories I have heard of late, simply unthinkable. :( It is just sickening that people could ever let things go that far. I wonder if the baby was left at home alone while they were gaming, seems to me she must have been because you'd think that if she had been left with another adult, one would hope they would have stepped in. What a tragedy.

I agree that this is a sad

I agree that this is a sad and tragic story. FYI, this topic is also discussed in the Couple Let Baby Starve thread.

Actually, I was thinking

Actually, I was thinking about this and recently watched an excellent documentary/show on Frontline on my local PBS station. It was all about gaming, addictions and such and most is based on South Korea. The school system/govt there actually has "camps" they send teenagers to to try and rid them of their addictions and get back to more "normal" things.

I think I'm meant to insert some sort of warning to recovering gamers because there is filming of screens with games being played and the overal subject matter.

If you watch the whole thing, you won't be disappointed. I'm still trying to figure out how they have it set up online as I watched it on tv but I think it was a couple hours long?

Anyway, just thought I'd pass it along for anyone interested. Given the update about the professor urging govt to make a change in S. Korea and what they are already doing for some chidren, I'm hopeful that perhaps they will do something.

I think they have only put

I think they have only put clips online. The show was called Digital Nation. I recorded it at the time but haven't finished watching it.

Thanks for sharing the links

Thanks for sharing the links absalom and shattereddreams!

The more we read and learn about gaming addiction, the easier it becomes to change our mindset and convince ourselves that gaming is a bad thing for us.
