/afk - AWAY FROM KEYBOARD

OLGA,

Several years ago, I had the pleasure and distinction to meet and connect with Liz over the phone to discuss gaming and its place in our world. I told her about our film and our topic and she instantly connected with our message. The product of that connection led to her involvement in our film, a relationship with OLGA and a lasting bond that will continue for all time.

We finished /afk - AWAY FROM KEYBOARD at the end of 2011 and began sending it into the film festival circuit in an effort to bring our message to the world. As the season came to a close, we felt satisfied that our film was screened at several international festivals; garnishing an audience award along the way. We are now preparing /afk for life beyond the festival circuit, which is what brings us here today.

We are independent filmmakers and we've done everything on our own with the help of many people who gave of their time and of themselves. In fact, you are sure to recognize some of our cast from within your own ranks. The best reward for a creator is for his efforts to be fruitful and for his message to be heard. That's why we've launched a Kickstarter site so that gamers and non-gamers can learn what /afk - AWAY FROM KEYBOARD is all about.

If you're a fan of documentary film and you'd like to know more about our message, please take a look at our site, afkthefilm.com. From there, you can visit our Kickstarter page to learn more about our endeavor. REMEMBER: Support is not measured in '$$$' alone. Please help us spread the word!

Thank you OLGA for offering us a voice and for all of your time along the way. We wouldn't be where we are today withour your support.

I just watched this movie

I just watched this movie and will warn those, especially that played WOW, that there are a lot of gaming images in it. I had a lot of mixed feelings as I watched, from wanting to game again to feeling bad for these guys who had lots of goals and dreams for their lives, but couldn't stop gaming. I could certainly relate. I think it showed very clearly the futility of spending your life gaming and ended with a positive message that living real life was way better than living in a fantasy world.

I just finished watching

I just finished watching this movie as well, and while I didn't play WOW, it certainly reminded me of playing SL....the useless hours spent in front of the computer and how my hubby must've felt while I had my nose in the computer. It is wonderfully done! Kudos to you!!

The original thread with this message is here: http://www.olganon.org/?q=node/33840

It mentions the very triggering images, especially for those who used to play MMORPG games.
