Russel Brand on addiction.

Folks, this essay (below) is powerful. He's an addict, I'm an addict, I get it. This is why we need each other. This is why we will need each other every day forever. (I think this may have been posted on the site before, but I just came across it and finally read it.)

If you are an addict, read this because it's about us. If you aren't, read this because it's about people you know and love.

So today, I won't game. I'll talk to other addicts. I'll stay on this planet that I don't really like. I'll ask for help when I need it and I'll offer help freely to my people. Today, I will try to live the life that the Higher Power would have me to live. I will fail to do it perfectly, and I accept that. I will then get up, admit my mistakes and start over tomorrow.

I am a recovering computer game and gambling addict. My recovery birthday: On May 6, 2012 I quit games and began working a program of recovery through OLGA No computer games or slot games for me since December 12, 2012. No solitaire games with real cards since June 2013.

Wow, that was an amazing

Wow, that was an amazing read and I get it too. I like what he said here (gaming substituted for "drugs and alcohol"): "Gaming is not my problem, reality is my problem, gaming is my solution." That pretty much sums it up. Thanks for sharing this, dan.

What a powerful message. We

What a powerful message. We find we can carry on, one day at a time, hand in hand. Together life is livable.

Acceptance. When I am disturbed, it is because a person, place, thing, or situation is unacceptable to me. I find no serenity until I accept my life as being exactly the way it is meant to be. Nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.  Acknowledge the problem, but live the solution!

Thanks for sharing Dan.

It's good to have goals and dreams, but while you're waiting for things to change, waiting for promises to come to pass, don't be discontent with where you are. Learn to enjoy the season that you're in--Pastor Joel Osteen

It was beautiful and

It was beautiful and heartfelt. Part of change is owning up to the parts of addiction that we love and miss. Not all of sobriety is fun and awesome. Walking the sober line is sometimes a suckfest. That's ok to admit it out loud. Talking about the taboo is what helps others. Thank you for sharing this.
