What do I Want?

WHAT DO YOU WANT? - Author known to God - Imagine walking up to the counter at the local fast-food restaurant and asking if they had your order ready. "What order?" the counterperson would ask. "Did you phone one in?" "No, but I thought you might have something for me behind the counter anyway." ** "it's absurd," you might say. "How could I expect them to have food ready for me when I hadn't yet placed my order?" ** Exactly. And how can you expect the magic of the universe to start bringing you the things and experiences that you want for your life if you haven't named them yet? ** Have you placed an order yet? Maybe you thought about it at the beginning of the year, but put it off until you had more time to think about it. And every day, you wake up and stand at the counter of life asking, "What do you have for me?" ** If you haven't asked for anything, you may have to settle for whatever life hands your way. Why not take the time to ask? You don't have to be too specific; just ask for what you want. Want adventure? Put it on the list. Want love? Write it down. There is no guarantee that you'll get everything you request. Life may have other plans for you. But you'll never know whether you can get what you want unless you know what it is, and ask for it first...have a safe, warm, blessed weekend...loves :--)x

That is so succinct and

That is so succinct and clear that I could almost overlook it, lol. Why am I looking over the hill for something when I can't even see the path! Those are very helpful words, pat. I should make a list and post it on my dressing mirror.

Somewhere along the way, I

Somewhere along the way, I got the idea that to want was wrong, was selfish, would only lead to disappointment. What do I want? Hmm...

Acceptance. When I am disturbed, it is because a person, place, thing, or situation is unacceptable to me. I find no serenity until I accept my life as being exactly the way it is meant to be. Nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.  Acknowledge the problem, but live the solution!

In my opinion we can "want"

In my opinion we can "want" selfish things; however we can "want" unselfish things too.

My list of unselfish things that I want:

1. a stable, sober life

2. a stable, sober life for other recovering gamers and their families

3. good health for me and others

4. a willingness to keep coming back and helping others
